Environmental standards are the guidelines for environmentally friendly trade. These norms, laid down by both governmental and non-governmental bodies and institutions, are not, however, at odds with economic growth – on the contrary: sustainable growth makes it possible to handle natural resources in a careful and responsible manner. It is tradition at REMONDIS to constantly strive towards improvement and innovation.
This concept is already deeply embedded in the area of packaging recycling. As part of the environmental service sector, packaging is fed back into the economic cycle where it is used to produce new products. Collected and sorted materials are refined using recycling processes and used to make new products. By doing so, consumption of natural raw materials is reduced and the environment is protected.
The forerunners of these challenging environmental standards are the highly industrialized nations such as Germany, which have passed laws in order to create standards that protect both the environment and as a result conserve natural resources. By introducing such laws, the German parliament has reacted in good time and set the future course for sustainable environmental policies.
Germany remains the forerunner for all matters concerning packaging recycling.
