It’s Not Just About Packaging.
It’s About Purpose.
Sure, it may sound ambitious to claim that recycling can save the world. But in reality, it plays a crucial role in protecting our climate. And every big change starts with a first step.
At EKO-PUNKT, sustainability is both our mission and our mindset – as part of the REMONDIS Group. Everything we do serves not only customer satisfaction but also the protection of resources and the climate. As a Duales System provider, we ensure that the valuable resource of packaging is consistently kept in the loop – rather than ending up in waste incineration, where it would be lost forever.
This alone helps reduce CO₂ emissions by millions of tonnes.
Additional climate benefits result from the material recycling of lightweight packaging, glass, paper and more – which replaces the need for raw materials based on virgin resources.
In 2020 alone, Germany’s dual waste management system helped save a significant amount of CO₂ emissions – annually.

The European Green Deal aims to make the continent climate-neutral by 2050 – an ambitious goal to which we at EKO-PUNKT are proud to contribute. Every kilogram of recycled material we produce and feed back into packaging production helps reduce CO₂ emissions. Currently, only around 15% of products in Germany are made using recycled raw materials – far too little. Especially when you consider that even increasing this share to just 30% could lead to an additional 60 million tonnes of CO₂ savings per year. Fortunately, policymakers have begun to recognize this potential. The German Packaging Act and the upcoming European PPWR (Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation), with its planned financial incentives for the use of recyclates, is a clear step in the right direction: Recyclates – and of course the avoidance of unnecessary packaging – are the future.
Our expertise in recyclate supply and circular contracting is what turns that future into action.
Want to know how much CO₂ you save by participating in the EKO-PUNKT dual system? Now you can – easily and accurately. A study published by the Öko-Institut in 2022 was the first to precisely quantify the CO₂ savings achieved through Germany’s dual systems. Based on this data, we calculate the specific emission reductions for each type of packaging you license with us. Just enter the respective material quantities – and let our calculator do the rest.
The result: an official certificate, free of charge for EKO-PUNKT customers – ideal for your sustainability communications and fully applicable to your CSR or ESG reporting.

* Due to the specific material composition and/or the lack of recycling infrastructure, this type of packaging does not result in direct CO₂ savings. However, recycling still provides added value in terms of resource conservation and climate protection.
A quick tip if you're unsure about how to determine the weight of each material fraction: Our licensing calculator includes helpful reference values for typical types of packaging.
By the way: When you use our licensing calculator to sign your contract with the EKO-PUNKT dual system online, we’ll include your official CO₂ certificate – completely free.

The packaging types you entered consist largely of materials that do not result in measurable CO₂ savings within the scope of system participation. This may be due to low material recovery rates in recycling (e.g. composites), or the absence of a nationwide recycling infrastructure in Germany (e.g. other materials).
